Nicholas "Nick" Bonasera is a political science student at Diablo Valley College, President of the Student Veterans Alliance, and a United States Marine Corps veteran. Nick began his military career in 2018 as an Amphibious Assault Vehicle technician and operator and was later selected as one of twenty Marines to support a year-long mission evaluating the Marine Corps’ transition from Amphibious Assault Vehicles to Amphibious Combat Vehicles. He went on to serve with the U.S. Department of State as a Marine Security Guard at diplomatic posts in Tijuana, Mexico City, Khartoum, Johannesburg, Adis Ababa and Prague, where he helped protect diplomatic facilities, classified material, and senior U.S. officials.
Nick's service includes VIP security missions for Secretary of State Antony Blinken and assisting in the evacuation of the U.S. Embassy in Khartoum. He also served as a Congressional Intern in California’s 10th District, supporting constituent communications, casework, community outreach, and public events. As Student Trustee, Nick is committed to representing students across Contra Costa College, Diablo Valley College, and Los Medanos College. His priorities include expanding zero textbook cost courses, reducing financial barriers for students, improving access to essential student resources, and returning his Student Trustee stipend directly to student services across 4CD. He plans to continue his education through graduate and professional studies in public policy and law, with the goal of working on legislation that improves opportunities for students, service members, and veterans.
