Often referred to as "reasonable accommodation" in popular culture, the District's interactive process is a timely and good-faith process by which we engage with any employee or applicant who has a medical limitation (physical or psychological) which may interfere with their ability to perform one or more essential functions of a position.
The interactive process will frequently result in a job accommodation, which is a reasonable adjustment to job duties or a work environment that makes it possible for an individual with a disability to perform the essential functions of their position.
The District's framework for conducting this important work is found in Human Resources Procedure 1080.05 ("Reasonable Accommodations for Employees")
While there are no "magic words" necessary to initiate the interactive process, the following forms should be completed by the employee and their medical provider:
